Classification of Semi Trailer Suspension

Suspension is the general name of all force transmission connection device between semi-trailer frame and axle, used to transmit the force and torque between the wheels and frame, and cushion the impact force transmitted from the road to the frame or body. And reduce the resulting vibration to ensure that the car can drive smoothly.
Generally speaking, the suspension of semi-trailer is mainly divided into four types.
1. Rigid suspension.
Rigid suspension of the body chassis acts directly on the axle between the wheels, there is no spring as a buffer, when the road is not level, it completely relies on the balance beam swing to maintain the relative balance of the front and rear axle.
This kind of suspension is relatively rare at present, because its damping effect is very poor, mainly used for low-speed cargo on the low flat semi-trailer.
2. Steel plate spring suspension.
Also known as tandem plate spring balance suspension, is also a common plate spring suspension, mainly by the plate spring, suspension bracket, linkage, U-bolts and other components.

Semi Trailer Suspension

The biggest advantages of this trailer suspension are low cost, reliable work and easy maintenance. Because of this, steel plate suspension is currently used in the largest proportion of domestic semi-trailers, about 70-80%.
3. Bogie suspension.
In other words, the front and rear brackets commonly found in steel plate springs are simplified to a single bracket and attached to the body, which can divide the force points into different axes, so the load capacity is higher and generally used on heavy trailers.
4. Air suspension.
Also known as airbag suspension, its most distinctive feature is the airbag air spring. Compared with other suspensions, air suspension has better cushioning force, which can effectively protect the cargo and improve driving comfort. Transportation of precision instruments, dangerous chemicals, etc.
